PC
Sales Will Top 250M Units in 2007. July 27, 2007—In 2007 the worldwide sales of mobile PCs are projected to reach nearly 91M units—up from 15M mobile PCs ten years ago. In the next five years mobile PC sales will be 159M units—a compound annual growth rate of nearly 12%. These figures could be conservative if the One-Laptop-per-Child project and similar initiatives are successful. Mobile PCs are gaining market share and will account for over 36% of worldwide PCs sold in 2007—a more than doubling from 17.2% in 1995. By 2012 the sales of mobile PCs are projected to account for over 47% of all PCs sold.
The industrialized countries will have even higher mobile PC sales share. In the USA mobile PCs have grown from a market share of 19% in 1995 to nearly 42% in 2007 with further growth to over 53% projected for 2012. These are some of the results from a new market research reports by Computer Industry Almanac. The report has yearly PC sales for PCs and mobile PCs for the USA and six regions of the world from 1990 to 2012. Computer Industry Almanac publishes market research reports for the PC Internet industries. For more information see Market Research Reports. |
