Countries with the Most Computers Year-End 1992 October 28, 1993 - The countries with the most computers at year-end 1992 are shown below. It is primarily the largest industrialized countries that make up this list. USA is the clear leader and has six times as many computers as Japan and eight times as many computers as Germany. Even when compared to all of Europe the U.S. has nearly twice as many computers in use. Sixteen countries have over one million computers in use. Three more countries may surpass the million mark in 1993: Brazil, Switzerland and China. Worldwide there is a total of 148M computers.
USA also leads in computers per capita. USA has 265 computers per 1,000 people. Australia, Canada and Norway are next with 175, 162 and 153 computers per 1,000 people. Japan has 84 and Germany 104 computers per 1,000 people. Worldwide there are 27 computers per 1,000 people. For more
