U.S. Tops 100 Million Internet Users According to Computer Industry Almanac November 4, 1999 - According to the Computer Industry Almanac the U.S. has an overwhelming lead in Internet users with over 110 million projected for year-end 1999, which is nearly 43% of the total 259 million worldwide Internet users. The top 15 countries with the most Internet users are ranked in the table below. The rankings are based on year-end 1999 estimates. These are results from a report by Computer Industry Almanac that estimates the number of Internet users and per capita users in 50 countries from 1990 to 1999 and projections for 2000, 2002 and 2005. There will be over 490 million Internet users or 79.4 per 1,000 people worldwide at year-end 2002 and over 765 million users or 118 per 1,000 people by year-end 2005. The U.S. will have one-third of the total users in 2002 and declining to 27% of the Internet users at year-end 2005.
