Countries with the Most Computers Year-End 1993 July 12, 1994 - The 1994/95 Computer Industry Almanac lists the countries with the most computers at year-end 1993 as shown below. It is primarily the largest industrialized countries that make up this list. USA is the clear leader and has six times as many computers as Japan and seven times as many computers as Germany. Even when compared to all of Europe, the U.S. has nearly twice as many computers in use. Eighteen countries have over one million computers in use. Three more countries may surpass the million mark in 1993: Denmark, Finland and Switzerland. Worldwide there is a total of 173M computers compared to 148M a year ago.
USA also leads in computers per capita with 288 computers per 1,000 people. Australia, Canada and Norway are next with 193, 188 and 173 computers per 1,000 people. Japan has 98 and Germany 128 computers per 1,000 people. Worldwide there are 31 computers per 1,000 people.
