PC
Sales Will Top 302M Units in 2008. October 13, 2008—In 2008 the worldwide sales of mobile PCs are projected to reach over 113M units—up from 18M mobile PCs ten years ago. In the next five years mobile PC sales will be over 204M units—a compound annual growth rate of nearly 13%. These figures could be conservative if netbook PCs exceed expectations. Mobile PCs are gaining market share and will account for over 40% of worldwide PCs sold in 2008—a more than doubling from 17.2% in 1995. By 2013 the sales of mobile PCs are projected to account for over 55% of all PCs sold.
The industrialized countries will have even higher mobile PC sales share. In the USA mobile PCs have grown from a market share of 19% in 1995 to nearly 47% in 2008 with further growth to over 62% projected for 2013. These are some of the results from a new market research reports by Computer Industry Almanac. The report has yearly PC sales for PCs and mobile PCs for the USA and six regions of the world from 1990 to 2013.
